Duplex printing in the library?

October 9th, 2008   Filed Under Equipment

Annette writes:

At the beginning of the semester we received the university’s letter on the new paper saving policy of the university. I thought they also mentioned that there was a default setting for double sided printing from now on. I’m very disappointed to find that I don’t even have a choice to print double sided in the library. It certainly would save a lot of paper and cost.
Please consider a change!

Dave Green, Associate University Librarian for Collections and Information Services replies:

Hello Annette.  We have already ordered the new parts and software for our printers to upgrade them so that this feature will be available.  We should have our printers upgraded by the end of this semester if not sooner.  You will then be able to do duplex printing in the library.   Thanks for your patience!

How about a copy machine on the 1st floor?

So far, my experiences with the library have been positive. As a suggestion, it would be helpful to have a copy machine located on the first floor of the library to copy reference materials instead of lugging everything up to the second floor. It can be challenging, if you are in the middle of research with multiple texts, to relocate to the second floor to make copies. Thanks for your time and keep up the good work.

Dave Green, Associate University Librarian for Collections and Information Services replies:

Hi Amanda. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I will contact the Copy Center supervisor and see if we can get one of the machines relocated to the 1st floor.
